Reducing CO2 through smart mathematics

Flight routing has a direct effect on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions – smart planning and calculation allows minimizing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions

Based on the flight planning software Lido Flight 4D, the expansion of the new Lido Optimizer VOLAR Algorithm followed and enables the optimization of routes to avoid non-CO2 effects such as condensation trails through the usage of eco-efficient trajectories. 

In addition, VOLAR established an innovative algorithm which offers a synchronized route optimization for diverse criteria (kerosene, costs, time, climate effects).  

The CleanTech Hub is further developing VOLAR in cooperation with DLR under the Funding Framework of the Federal Republic of Germany.
