Lufthansa Cargo's first AeroSHARK-modified Boeing 777 freighter, registered D-ALFA, took off for the first time at 05:07 (CET) on February 3, 2023. Under flight number LH8410, the B777F started from Frankfurt (FRA) to Bengaluru (BLR), from where it will fly on to Chengdu (CTU).

SWISS has acquired a financial interest in Swiss-based technology company Synhelion in a further step to help bring solar fuels to market. Synhelion will be using the funds raised by this latest financing round to scale up and commercialize its technology. Alternative fuels such as the solar fuel being developed by Synhelion are essential to the achievement of the aviation sector’s ambitious climate goals.

At our booth, we talked with many green tech innovators and end customers about the Lufthansa Group's sustainability efforts to decarbonize the aviation industry. In particular, we talked about our commitment and status in the area of sustainable aviation fuels, the continuous optimization of our flight operations, retrofits and our ambitions to reduce single-use packaging on board.

Together with OMV, Austrian Airlines are uplifting the first Austrian Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which is produced at the local Schwechat refinery from Austrian used cooking oil. SAF is one of our key levers to gradually reduce carbon emissions.
