KEROSyN100

KEROSyN100 is a research project intending to make the production of methanol based synthetic Power-to-Liquid kerosene mass-market ready. In cooperation with, e.g. Raffinerie Heide, the University of Bremen and five other industry experts, Lufthansa Group supports the initiative to drive the research of PtL kerosene to be able to turn away from fossil fuel-based kerosene and to reduce the carbon footprint and other emissions. In order to achieve these ambitions, the cooperation intends to develop a process layout to then build a Power-to-Liquid plant in Schleswig-Holstein.

KEROSyN100 is the first project to use an innovative synthesis process – based on methanol. This process is said to be promising in terms of an efficient Power-to-Liquid production.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) officially promotes the project as a part of the energy research program of the German Federal Government.
